A native New Yorker, I grew up in New Jersey & Pennsylvania. But always searching for ‘more’ eventually headed west, spending nearly 20 years in the mountains of Colorado raising my family, enjoying nature, learning about holistic living. On returning to the east coast in the 90’s, I gravitated to the Outer Banks and found the same qualities of serenity and awesomeness on our island that exists in the Rockies where nature is in control.
A self-taught artist, my painting hobby became a full time job, featuring the many unique Outer Banks sights, primarily the majestic lighthouses.
There is such an abundance of natural canvas here, my paintings are all done on wood or old crabbing buoys found on the beaches, dripping sand and sporting barnacles, inspiring the name of my little company “From the Beach”.
I also love to paint 'people' houses, realistic portraits of your home whether you're the owner or renter. House portraits are done from photos, usually on canvas, but can also be done on just about any object using acrylic paint.
